While we're talking about facts, the fact is that the Foundation for Biomedical Research can't back up that claim.

I directly contacted them, asking for credible, peer-reviewed studies showing how many average years of life could be attributed to animal research. They eventually admitted that they couldn't point me to anything of the kind.

The Foundation for Biomedical Research is a lobby pretending to be an impartial educational organization.

Life expectency in the U.S. increase by a little over thirty years in the 20th century. I'll poke around and see if anyone tried to divide up what was responsible for that increase (antibiotics and vaccines ought to be two of the biggest causes - and those require animal research).

They're just a lobby group pretending to be an educational organization? They are quite clearly a lobby group. It's a lobby group of prominent biomedical scientists. They lobby for legislation to protect biomedical researchers and they try to educate the public about the importance of animal research. I don't think they're hiding any of this.
